Soaring above Lancaster, SC
I've
done a lot of crazy things to get exemplary track logs, but this has got
to be the most fun - soaring in a glider. For those of you glider pilots
who do it all the time, I'm sure that this GPS data is not all that impressive.
The glider I flew in was a trainer, which means it is built to take hard
landings, not float above the clouds. So, the track log is short and pretty
much straight up and straight down. But along the way down, we made a few
curly-Qs which make an impressive 3-D elevation profile. Download this GPS
map to get an idea of what an introductory ride in a glider is all about.
Click on the binoculars to see a Google Earth image of the glider track..

More Info
This glider track data was acquired using a Garmin Forerunner 305 while soaring above Lancaster, SC. Special thanks to the folks at Bermuda High for taking me up for a second ride to get this great example of fun things you can do with GPS.
