Gorges State Park
The
park is about an hour southwest of Ashville, North Carolina, south
of US 64 between Rosman and Sapphire. There are two primary access
roads, Grassy Ridge on the west side of the park off NC281 and Auger Hole
Road on the east side of the park off Frozen Creek Road (NC 1139).
Day hikers frequent Grassy Ridge to visit nearby waterfalls. Auger
Hole Road is open for licensed 4-wheel drive vehicles to access to WRC game
lands during hunting season. Equestrians and mountain bike riders
can use Auger Hole Road up to the park boundary at Turkeypen Gap.
