Chattahoochee River Recreation Area
(Keywords: Hiking, Paddling - Georgia)
Featuring:
Cochran Shoals and the Palisades
Whether you are drifting along in raft, or walking along the bank, it’s hard to believe that you are in the midst of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Cochran Shoals is a large recreation area along the river just outside I-285, where city dwellers can jog, ride bikes and walk their dogs. The Palisades, inside the city perimeter, tower over the river and give a modest challenge to the day hiker. Fishermen and paddlers can be found all along this 7-mile stretch of river.
