Glen Canyon

Featuring:
hiking into Glen Canyon through Davis GulchDavis Gulch

A lot has been written about Lake Powell's rising and falling water levels, submerging and exposing natural beauty of Glen Canyon. But unless there is a flood of Biblical proportion, Lake Powell will never cover up the treasures found in Davis Gulch.

First you have to get there...

Check conditions and get permits at the Interagency Visitors Center (Waypoint HIRDG0) just west of Esclante, UT. Then head out Route 12 to Hole-in-the-Rock Road (Waypoint HIR001). Dive southeast for about 50 miles through desolate territory to the trailhead of Davis Gulch (Waypoint DG0000).

Hiking is strenuous and canyoneering skills may be required for in-depth exploration. Exposure to steep drop offs. Route finding skills required. Use GPS and this location data to aid in navigation.

Determing map locations from trail descriptions was accomplished using Google Earth. Note that while the imagery available for the Glen Canyon NRA is absolutely incredible, this is Class B1 GPS data.
