Grand Canyon National Park
Featuring:The Colorado River and Rim Access Trails
Trekking
through one of the world's natural wonders... Whether you experience it
by plunging down the Colorado River, or one step at a time along a steep
and rocky trail, it's the adventure of a lifetime. From the put-in
at Lees Ferry just below the Glen Canyon Dam at Lake Powell, to Havasu Canyon,
every mile of the river and every developed trail from the rim of the canyon
to the river bottom is charted in this huge GPS data file. Waypoint
descriptions include most significant rapids and camps along the river,
and descriptions of campgrounds and water sources for hikers.

Custom Paper Map
Order a waterproof or regular paper, topographic map showing the this area from AdventureStation. The link below takes you to Step 4 of a six step process. During this process you decide the kind of map, paper type, and other features. The size and scale of the map have been preconfigured, but you have the option to change that too. These are beautiful maps that show excellent detail.
Adventure Travel Tip
Word of caution: Although it appears from the maps that the
canyon can be hiked in a day, you'd be well advised to not make the journey
unless prepared to spend a night. Conditions vary from rim to
river requiring you to carry a variety of gear. Water availability
is always a concern. Carry some extra water down to stash along the
way for your trip back up. And to make it easier to carry all the
water you'll consume, use hydration packs*,
which evenly distribute the weight.
Adventures in Print
As an additional resource for planning your expedition to the Grand Canyon, consider the Sierra Club's "Hiking the Grand Canyon." This book, written by John Annerino, is small enough to carry along, yet big enough to provide many details unique to the adventure.*
