Rechargable Batteries for your GPS

Using rechargeable batteries is a more economical way to power your GPS. Rechargeable's will pay for themselves many times over single-use batteries.

Most handheld GPS units use standard size batteries. So finding batteries that are the correct size and power rating, is easy.

Once you get hooked on the savings, you will want to use rechargeable in your other household items and toys.

Here are a few tips for making the switch over to rechargeables.

  1. Buy a few a time. Gradually building your inventory.
  2. Write on the battery in permanent marker the date you started using the battery.
  3. Set up a battery charging station somewhere in the garage or kitchen.
  4. Your charging station should include a small volt meter so you can test to determine if batteries are fully charged.
  5. Next to the charging station, place two bins. One bin for charged batteries and one bin for discharged batteries.
  6. Keep a few single-use batteries of each size for emergencies.
  7. Before discarding old battery-operated items, remove the batteries. Discard single-use batteries properly.
Be kind to the environment. Use rechargeable batteries to save resources and reduce waste.

I hope this helps!
