"River Bluff"

Placed: 13 January 2001

Background:

Update: 28 April 2006 Received email from park service that River Bluff had been removed. However, it's still worth a look... you never know what you might find.

Update: 8 June 2002:  After some blundering by wildlife, the cache box was replaced and the location tweaked.  There had been some complaints about how full the container was and some questions about the accuracy of the distance/bearing measurements (maybe now those Trimble surveyors can fit there Van Morrison CD's in the cache).  Note that I plan to make this a 3-part cache in the near future.  A big thanks to local geocachers for being Johnnie-on-the-spot.

Update: 20 June 2001:  Archived cache restored as multi-part cache.
I had to make this one a little more difficult because the original location received more visits than the cookie jar at Christmas time. Good Luck.

Update: 17 April 2001:  this GeoCache is safely back with its owner and will be re-located as soon as possible.

Update: 14 April 2001:  this GeoCache has reportedly been found by a local Cacher and removed from the stash area.

As of 9 April 2001, this GeoCache may have recently been moved from its original location.  Efforts are under way to find it and put it back or permanently remove it.  Anyone in the Atlanta area who would like to help with search and recovery, please, email me. I will pay a $25 (plus postage) reward for the container and contents to be mailed back to Turner Endeavors.

13 January 2001: Original

Description of Stash:

Tupperware Container approximately 5" x 7"
Degree of Difficulty (5 )
I give this cache an overall ranking of '5' because you will have to determine the cache location from distance and bearing data. It’s still within the West Palisades Rec Area, but you will need to use route-finding skills in order to avoid cross-country blunders.

Obligatory list of potential dangers: heat exhaustion, loose footing, wildlife encounters, and - since you may think you need to bushwhack (you don't)- skin irritating/abrasive plants.

Hint:
Part 1:
You may be surprised to find
your road to success partially paved,
however, you may have a little trouble...
figuring out where to park.
Part 2:
If you're at where you think you should be,
but you don't see anything...
try walking a little further south.
